Made-to-measure awnings in Spain, built in our Elche factory

If you are looking for awnings in Spain for your villa, apartment or holiday home, we make them to measure in our own factory in Elche and our own team fits them across the province of Alicante (the Costa Blanca) and the Region of Murcia. There is an awning for every façade, and we help you choose it by where the sun comes in, how much wind you get and what your community of owners allows.

Which awning do you need?

  • Cassette awning

The fabric and arms retract into a closed box. It lasts longest on a seafront façade.

  • Retractable awning

Folding arms that come out of the wall with no posts. The classic for terraces and balconies.

    retractable awnings
  • Vertical awning

Drops straight down in front of the terrace or window. It blocks the low afternoon sun and gives you privacy.

    vertical awnings
  • Pergola awning

A fabric pergola that slides along rails. It covers patios and large terraces.

  • Curved and drop-arm awnings

For windows and balconies, with the front angled down or shaped in an arc.

  • Veranda awning

Fitted under glass or polycarbonate roofs to take the heat out of the porch.

  • Abri awning

Two awnings in a gabled layout on a frame that does not need anchoring to the ground.

  • Shade sails

Triangular or square sails tensioned between walls or masts.

  • Canopy awning

Straight wall canopies, and new fabric for the canopy you already have.

How to choose your awning

By orientation

A south-facing façade gets the high midday sun, and that is where an awning with projection works best, either folding-arm or cassette. On a west-facing façade the sun comes in low and from the side in the afternoon, and a horizontal awning will not stop it. There we combine it with a vertical awning or choose one with a front valance. On the home visit we ask what time of day the sun bothers you, because that is what decides it. There is a step-by-step guide in how to choose a terrace awning.

By wind

On the coast the wind matters more than the sun. On the seafront we recommend a cassette awning, because the fabric is sheltered from the salt air when it is closed, and a wind sensor if the awning is motorised.

By your community of owners

An awning on the façade changes how the building looks, and Spain's Horizontal Property Act requires the agreement of the community of owners (the residents' association of the building) to alter it. Many communities have an approved model, and we advise you on it. We explain it in more detail in awnings on façades and the law in Spain.

Fabrics and colours

We work with acrylic, PVC and technical fabrics, and we powder-coat the frame in white or any RAL colour. Acrylic is the fabric for a home terrace: it breathes and does not trap heat. PVC keeps the water out, so it is the choice for bars and restaurants or for areas you want covered from the rain. If you are unsure which one suits you, start with what is the best fabric for an awning.

Manual or motorised

Almost all our awnings can be motorised, from day one or later on. With a motor the awning opens with a remote control or from your phone, and with a wind sensor it closes by itself when the wind picks up, which helps prevent broken arms. Everything about this is on our page on electric awnings.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does a made-to-measure awning cost?

It depends on the width, the projection, the type of awning, the fabric and whether it has a motor. We do not give a fixed price without measuring, because it would be a number that changes later. After the home visit you get a written quote. If you want a rough idea first, read how much it costs to install an awning.

Which awning copes best with the wind on the coast?

No awning should be left open in strong wind. The ones that handle it best are pergola awnings, because the fabric is held in rails, and cassette awnings, because they retract into a protected box. On a folding-arm awning, the wind sensor is what makes the difference.

Do I need permission from my community of owners?

If the awning goes on the façade of a building, you usually need the community's agreement, and many have an approved colour and model. On a detached villa or an inner courtyard you normally do not. For a bar or restaurant terrace on the street, your town hall's bylaw on terraces also applies.

Do you make the awnings yourselves?

Yes. We make them in our own factory in Elche and our own technicians fit them. We hold ISO 9001 quality and ISO 14001 environmental certification.

Do you work in my town?

We work across the whole province of Alicante and the Region of Murcia. You will find the list of towns and your nearest showroom in awnings across the Costa Blanca.

What guarantee do you give?

Three years on the installation, five years against fading on awning fabrics and five years on motors and components.

Can my existing awning be motorised?

On most folding-arm and cassette awnings, yes, by replacing the crank mechanism with a tubular motor. We check it on the home visit.

What should I do with the awning when it rains?

Retract it if the fabric is acrylic, and open it again to dry as soon as the rain stops, so it is never rolled up wet.

Do you repair awnings you did not install?

Yes, as long as compatible spare parts are available. Have a look at our awning repair service.
