Made-to-Measure Bioclimatic Pergolas on the Costa Blanca

A bioclimatic pergola, often called a louvred pergola in the UK, is a roof of aluminium louvres that turn. Open, they let in light and air; closed, they give full shade and keep the rain off. We make it to measure for terraces, gardens and businesses on the Costa Blanca, across Alicante province and in the Murcia region, and our own team installs it.

How it works

A motor turns the louvres, from the remote control or your phone. In summer you open them slightly so the hot air escapes and you still have shade; in winter you open them fully to let the sun in. When it rains they close, and the water runs along a concealed gutter and down through the posts.

What you can add

  • LED lighting

built into the frame, so you can use it after dark.
  • Side closures

glass curtains or vertical awnings, to turn it into another room of the house.

If you want to see open sky on good days, the Pergorain retracts completely. If you only need shade, look at the pergola awning.

What affects the price

The size and layout (fixed to the façade or freestanding), the number of posts, how it is anchored (to the ground, to a slab or on pedestals on a terrace), the motor, the lighting and any side closures. That is why we do not give a price without measuring. After the home visit you receive a detailed written quote, item by item.

On the coast

Salt air attacks poorly protected metal. Our aluminium carries a QUALICOAT-certified coating.

Permits

Many town halls ask for a building permit or a declaración responsable (a formal notice of works) for a bioclimatic pergola, because it is a roof on posts. What yours requires depends on the town and on the size. We advise you before you sign anything.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does a bioclimatic pergola cost?

It depends on the size, whether it is wall-mounted or freestanding, how it is anchored and extras such as LED lighting or side closures. We do not quote figures without measuring, because every installation is different; after the home visit you have the quote in writing.

Is a bioclimatic pergola waterproof?

With the louvres closed, yes: the water runs along an internal gutter and down through the posts.

Do I need a permit from the town hall?

Many town halls ask for a permit or a declaración responsable. It depends on the town and on the size; we confirm it before work starts.

Can it be closed in at the sides?

Yes, with glass curtains, vertical awnings or screens.

What happens in strong wind?

There is no fabric to retract: the louvres close against wind and rain.

Can it go on a penthouse terrace?

Yes, if the slab and the waterproofing allow it. We check this during the home visit.

What maintenance does it need?

Clean the louvres and the gutter a couple of times a year.

How is it different from a sandwich panel roof?

A sandwich panel roof is fixed, insulates and does not open. A bioclimatic pergola lets you decide how much light comes in at any moment.
