Tabarca, the only inhabited and largest island in the Region of Valencia located 11 nautical miles (22 km.) From the city of Alicante and 2.5 nautical miles from Santa Pola (4.3 km) and about 8 kn. from the port of Santa Pola. The island has a total length of about 1,800 meters and a maximum width of about 400 meters. It has, in addition to Tabarca, the islets of La Cantera, La Galera and La Nao, the latter without inhabiting.
The Alicante City Council, on which the island depends administratively, commissioned us to change the textile roof of the jetty since the previous one was very deteriorated by the weather and the adverse atmospheric agents on the island.
installation of the textile cover of the pier of the Island of Tabarca
The material used is a high tenacity technical fabric with reinforcements on the sides to be able to be “woven” around the steel structure. Each of the sheets of fabric carries another type of technical fabric with an amplitude of upper hole to allow the exit of the air that could be pocketed in the prevailing winds of the island.
The task of placing the roof was done during non-commercial hours so as not to hinder the transfer of tourists to the island.
