Electric and automatic awnings

Electric awnings open and close at the touch of a button, from your phone or automatically, depending on the sun and the wind. We fit motors to new awnings and to the ones you already have, without replacing the whole awning. Motors and components carry a five-year guarantee.

Which awnings can be motorised

Almost all of them: cassette, retractable, vertical, curved, veranda, Abri and straight canopy. The motor is tubular and hidden inside the tube the fabric rolls onto, so from the outside the awning looks the same.

Wall switch or remote, and battery motors

The motor sits inside the roller tube and cannot be seen. All motors have limit switches, which set where the awning stops when opening and closing; they can be mechanical or electronic, and the mechanical ones last longest. There are two ways to operate it: a wall switch, which needs a cable from the motor, or a wireless remote control, which needs no wiring and is increasingly the usual choice. The awning only needs a power point nearby.

Sensors: the awning that closes by itself

Wind sensor

It retracts the awning when the wind gets strong. It prevents more faults than anything else, because the typical breakage on an awning is an arm bent by a gust while the fabric was open.

Sun sensor

It opens the awning when the sun hits the façade and retracts it when the sun goes. Useful to protect furniture and floors even when you are not at home.

Phone control and home automation

With a connected receiver you can move the awning from an app, set schedules or link it to the rest of your home automation.

Motorising the awning you already have

If the frame is in good condition, we replace the crank with a motor and add the remote and sensors you want. We check it on a home visit: sometimes it is worth changing the fabric at the same time. If the awning also has a fault, we fix it in the same job through our awning repair service.

Who it is for

For large awnings, which are hard work with a crank. For holiday homes, where nobody is there to close the awning when the wind picks up. And for older people or anyone with reduced mobility.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can a manual awning be motorised?

Yes, on most folding-arm and cassette awnings. The crank mechanism is replaced with a tubular motor inside the roller tube.

Can I rely on the wind sensor while I am away from my holiday home?

The sensor detects gusts and retracts the awning, but it is best not to leave it open in a storm or during long absences.

How much electricity does an electric awning use?

It only uses power while it is moving, a few seconds each time. You will hardly notice it on the bill.

What guarantee does the motor have?

Five years on motorisation and components.

Why does my electric awning only work some of the time?

It is almost always the motor's thermal protection: after several movements in a row it stops for a few minutes to cool down. If it happens after a single use, it needs checking.

Can I control several awnings with one remote?

Yes, a multi-channel remote moves each awning separately or all of them at once.
