Toldos Costa Blanca makes and fits made-to-measure swimming pool covers across the Costa Blanca and the province of Alicante. Every cover is cut in our own 5,000 m² workshop in Elche, from the real measurements of your pool. We are the manufacturer, not a middleman, and we have six shops of our own along the coast.
A pool cover is a technical sheet that sits over the water when the pool is not in use. It does three jobs at once. It protects, by keeping out the leaves, sand and dust the wind carries in. It conserves, by cutting evaporation and helping the water hold the heat it picked up during the day. And it makes the pool safer, by removing open access to the water when nobody is watching.
On the Costa Blanca both of those first two matter more than they would back home. The levante wind puts sand and debris in the water almost daily, and the sun drives evaporation hard from May onwards, which means more topping up and more chemicals. A properly sized cover reduces both.
The usual choice for a private villa. It is cut to the exact shape of your pool, including irregular shapes, Roman steps, built-in stairs and access ledges. It anchors around the perimeter and is put on and taken off by hand.
For the months when the pool is not being used, typically October to March. It closes the pool completely over the off-season, stops it filling with leaves and cuts the work of getting it back into service in spring. If you are closing the pool until next summer, this is the time to have it measured.
A different thing altogether. A tensioned shade sail or a pergola sits several metres above the water and gives you shade while you swim, instead of closing the pool off. Plenty of owners end up with both: a cover for when the pool is shut, shade for when it is not. See our waterproof pergolas.
When what you want is not to cover the water but to make the space around it usable all year. That is solved with an aluminium enclosure or a glass curtain over the seating area, not over the pool itself. See glass rooms with aluminium and glass curtains.
We are a canvas and aluminium manufacturer, so we will be straight with you about the limits. We do not make automatic slatted covers, motorised roller covers, bubble or solar covers, or rigid polycarbonate enclosures. If that is specifically what you are after, we would rather tell you now than sell you something else.
We work with technical outdoor canvas built for UV exposure and for the salt air of the coast, with aluminium and stainless steel fittings at the anchor points. Which material suits you depends on use: a community pool in daily service does not ask the same of a cover as a villa pool that gets shut in October.
We manufacture it ourselves. Cutting, stitching and finishing all happen at our own premises in Elche, 5,000 m² of workshop. In practice that means three things for you:

With the measurements taken, we set out the solution that fits your pool and the way you use it, with the specific material and anchoring system. The quote is fixed and itemised, so you know what you are agreeing to before you agree to it.
Once you accept, the cover goes into the workshop and is cut and made up to your measurements.
Our own team fits the cover and the anchors, checks how it sits on the water and shows you how to handle and look after it. The fitting is done by our staff, not subcontracted.
An uncovered pool with nobody watching it is the most serious risk in a house with small children or pets. A closed cover removes open access to the water during the hours when nobody is looking.
It is a layer of protection, not a substitute for supervision. No cover replaces an adult paying attention. What it does is stop thirty seconds of distraction ending up in the water.

Evaporation is the main way an open-air pool loses water, and here the sun and the wind speed it up. Covering the pool when it is not in use cuts that loss, and with it the number of times you top it up over the season.
By slowing evaporation overnight, the cover helps the water hold the heat it gained during the day. In practice the swimming season stretches at both ends.
No leaves, no sand, no insects and no dust on the bottom. The pool cleaner works less and so does the filter.
Water kept out of direct sun and away from airborne dirt holds its readings better, so it needs less correcting through the year.
Closing the pool from October to March stops it spending the winter collecting organic matter. The spring start-up becomes a job of hours instead of days. This is the single biggest reason our non-resident clients fit one.

Our shops in Moraira, Altea, Ciudad Quesada, Finestrat and Gran Alacant are in the areas with the largest international communities on the Costa Blanca.
There is no catalogue price, because every cover we make is cut to measure. The cost depends on the surface area of the water, the shape of the pool, the material you choose and the anchoring system. The measure-up visit and the quote are free and carry no obligation, so you can find out what your pool would cost without committing to anything.
Almost certainly yes. We cover the whole province of Alicante from six shops, and the coastal strip from Denia down to Orihuela Costa is our core area. If you are unsure, give us the name of the urbanisation and the town when you call and we will tell you straight away which shop covers you.
The same way it works in Spanish, just in English. We take the measurements on site, then send you a written, itemised quote you can read at your own pace. Nothing is agreed verbally at the door, and nothing starts until you have confirmed the written quote. If you would rather have a family member or a neighbour present at the visit, that is not a problem.
Yes. Because we cut the canvas ourselves, the cover is made to the exact shape of the pool, including Roman steps, built-in stairs, access ledges, curves and corners that are not square. That is the whole point of a made-to-measure cover compared with an off-the-shelf one.
No, and it is worth explaining the difference. A bubble or solar cover is a floating plastic sheet sold by pool suppliers to hold heat. An automatic slatted cover is a motorised roller system, usually installed when the pool is built. A safety cover is a tensioned mesh anchored into the surround. What we make is a made-to-measure canvas cover, cut to your pool and fitted by our own team, plus shade solutions such as sails and pergolas. If you need one of the other types, we will say so rather than talk you into ours.
This is the most common reason our non-resident clients call us. A winter cover closes the pool from October through to spring, so it does not spend six months collecting leaves and organic matter while nobody is there. When you come back, getting the pool ready is a job of hours rather than days, and the water has not been sitting open all winter.
For the measure-up we do need access to the pool, so either you, a neighbour, a key holder or your property manager needs to let us in. For the fitting we also need access. If you are not in Spain at the time, tell us when you request the quote and we will arrange dates and access with whoever is holding the keys.
